10th Royal Hussars (1814) - Framed Print - 14"H x 11"W

The 10th Royal Hussars (Prince of Wales's Own) was a cavalry regiment of the British Army raised in 1715. It saw service for three centuries and was amalgamated with the 11th Hussars (Prince Albert's Own) to form the Royal Hussars (Prince of Wales's Own) in October 1969.

The regiment was raised by Brigadier-General Humphrey Gore as Humphrey Gore's Regiment of Dragoons in 1715 as part of the response to the Jacobite rising. The regiment was involved in cavalry charges at both the Battle of Falkirk Muir and the Battle of Culloden 

It was retitled as the 10th Regiment of Dragoons in 1751.

During the Seven Year's War, the regiment took part at the Raid on St Malo, Battle of Minden, the Battle of Warburg, the Battle of Kloster Kampen and the Battle of Villinghausen 

In 1794 Beau Brummell, who became an arbiter of men's fashion in regency London, joined the regiment as a cornet.

During the Napoleonic Wars and Peninsular Wars, the regiment took part at the Battle of Sahagún, the Battle of Benavente, the Battle of Corunna, the Battle of Morales, the Battle of Vitoria, the Battle of Orthez, the Battle of Toulouse and the Battle of Waterloo.

During the Victorian period, the regiment fought in the the Crimean War, the Second Anglo-Afghan War, the Mahdist War and the Second Boer War

The First World war saw them form as part of the British Expeditionary Force for service on the Western Front.
