Wild Ducks (Oriental Art) - Rakusan Tsuchiya - Framed Plate - 12"H x 16"W

Rakusan Tsuchiya (Born Kouzou Tsuchiya) was a Japanese artist. He had other "artist names" which included Rakuzan Koushisei, Koushisei, Rakusan, Rakuzan.

He is known for his beautiful and refined nature studies and he studied under the great Kyoto artist Seiho Takeuchi.

Duck is the common name for a large number of species in the waterfowl family Anatidae, which also includes swans and geese.

The word duck comes from Old English *dūce "diver", a derivative of the verb *dūcan "to duck, bend down low as if to get under something, or dive", because of the way many species in the dabbling duck group feed by upending.
